Below you will find campus based information that will be helpful to you as you begin to advise your students in a remote capacity. Because we will not be able to meet with students in a traditional manner, you will need to be attentive to your SJC Portal several times each day throughout the Advising and Registration Process as students are likely to be requesting reviews of their schedules as they make changes. Once you have approved courses in Student Planning, it is preferred to have students register themselves using the 'Register Now' button in Student Planning. However, if you are manually registering a student for a particular reason, the student's approval of this registration must be obtained in writing (via email) or, if the approval is given over the phone, it must be documented that phone approval was given in the 'notes' tab of Student Planning.
Creating Advisement Appointments Using Google Calendar and Zoom Video
Have your students sign up for advisement appointments by utilizing Google Calendar Appointment Slots. Easily create a series of time slots containing a zoom link where your students can then select an appointment time.

Campus-based undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year are typically allowed to take two online courses every semester and during the summer term. Also, a minimum GPA of 2.0 is required to register for online courses. If you would like to request an exception to these policies due to an extenuating circumstance, or if you are encountering a wait-listed or closed online class that you must take to graduate on time, please fill out our Online Course Exception Request Form.
